STRUAN KING
Those of you in
the group with long memories may
remember that name. I certainly do because some 10 years ago Struan ran the
Great North Run to raise funds for the newly formed group here in the borders,
in fact I think he was the first person to fund raise for the group!! How ironic
it is that some 10 years later he is at it again!! This time in the
Edinburgh Marathon, and still his nominated charity is Parkinson’s
this time to the research sideof the Charity. As if Ian and Muriel
werenae proud enough of their boy, he goes and clocks up an amazing time to come
in place 310!!! Yup 310th!!! Out of a field of thousands!!
A MUCKLE HUGE WELL DONE STRUAN!!
And from us all coonected with Parky an even
bigger THANK YOU!!!!
Talking of Thank
Yooz can i say on behalf of everyone
in the Branch, a big thank You to
NIKIS BAR in Galashiels for fund-raising for
the branch in the form of a race-night at the local community centre.
I must apologize to Steve Richardson oor welfare
support worker for him escaping our Thank You list. This was due to a staff
oversight or it could just be Gary’s incompetence!!! I’ll opt for the latter,
sorry Steve.
We would like to thank Steve for a donation he
made after he and a friend cycled around the Borders earlier in the year in the
poaring rain and gales I might add!!!. Can I just pass on a sincere if not
belated Thanks to Steve.
Another muckle
Thank You goes to Elliot and Dot
Henderson(Hendersons Forestry, Farm Machinery an Scaffolders) of Selkirk for
their donation to the groups funds from their fund raising night held in Selkirk
Rugby Club. Many Thanks from all at the branch.
It is safe to
say a big thank you goes out to all
who fundraise for the branch with out your
constant support we couldn’t continue to provide the services the group
offers to people living with Parky in the Borders.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Annual
Outing
In June we all headed on board the skylark (bus) North Berwick bound!! The sun
shone as did the rain a wee bit. Arriving in North Berwick in time furra wee
stroll roon the charity shops for some. Then it was back to Quality Street not
for
a
sweet but for dinner,
fish suppers all round at the North Berwick Fry. After the energy levels getting
a boost it was off to the links putting green for some of the motley crew,
to compete for the Borders Parkys North Berwick Plate 2010, a coveted trophy
with a history of many years, and in a nailbiting competition it went down to
the final hole of the match and with two final putts first from Rachel McKenzie
of Earlston Club with a 25 foot putt which she putted right into the centre fo
the hole to take the match to a tie break. Then onto the green steps Tony Taylor
from Gala club with 55 feet to the hole to win the plate.......... the
silence around the green was there for all to see
and hear. As Tony nervously steps up to the ball and a hush goes around the
course tap! And the ball rolls on the green and plop! Straight into the hole!
FROM 55 FEET ! A gutted Rachel McKenzie concedes defeat to a jubilant Tony
Taylor as he steps forward to accept the plate. Pictured
below.
