COMMITTEE MEETING

Just a wee reminder to all on the committee that we have a meeting in the chaplaincy on Tuesday 18th October … 10 – 12.

Look forward to seeing you all there.

Dreich is the understatement of the year and now we are into October the sun shows itself again, and the flowers are reblooming is there such a word? So as I sit here on ma sun lounger oot in the back garden wi’ ma Ambre Solaire a cool beer and the laptop typing this news letter, ‘Aye it’s a hard life!!’

While am on aboot the weather on a recent visit to North Berwick, Hils an moi went into the ironmongers on the High Street, where we came across a stack of snow shovels! What was really scary was the fact that they were all reserved!!!!!!!!!! In September by golly!!!!! Do the residents of North Berwick ken something we dinnae?

Anyway, hope that whatever you got up to over the summer months was enjoyable.

Not much been happening over the summer months from this side of the pond. Yes we had to cancel our summer trip but hey that’s auld news, oh aye, you’ll all hae noticed Jennifer is doing a crackin job with the newsletter, Thank You Jennifer.

Where she finds the time I’ll never know. Aye working with Jennifer has its perks, like you get to sample her award winning carrot cake, well runner up she was in a local show well done and mmmmmmmmmm it was lovely why it didnae get first place I’ll never ken! You lot will just have to take ma word for it, tee hee hee.

Congratulations to Maisie and Charles (his Sunday name) Hogarth who became GREAT Grandparents in September…………

Also if we can wish Peter an Isobel Mulvey many years of happiness after moving to their new hoose.

That’s all fur now I’ll let you read on to find out what’s going down as they say here in the Scottish Borders for people living with Parky's.

A JOB WELL DONE

Well if you cast yer minds back to the beginning of September, Saturday 10th to be exact. If you remember that day it was absolutely chucking it down, by rights nae body should hae been oot their hooses!!!

But it’ll take mair than rain falling by the bucket load to put off the coffee morning regulars in Innerleithen!! Yeah yer right that was the day of the Innerleithen Coffee Morning.  The Browns had been busy baking all week for the cake and candy stall!!

Well at the September meeting the Browns presented the group with a cheque to the tune of £815.40!!  Seen in the photo receiving the cheque on behalf of the group are Jill an Tony, presenting them with the cheque are John, Mary an Jennifer Brown, a big well done to all involved, an a muckle thank you.

JOINING FORCES

We’re the Parkinson’s support and research charity. Help us find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.

As this newsletter gets back up and running  we have a big change to tell you all about, due  to failing numbers at both the drop in and the Monday meeting, Jill approached us to ask what we thought of joining forces, i.e. having the drop-In on the same day as the Monday meeting, this would mean members not having to make two trips to the BGH each month, save us on catering costs, hopefully attract speakers along to meeting if there’s more going on, and it frees the chaplaincy for other groups to use the wonderful facilities.

So as of now Jill will be in attendance at our future Monday meetings, but it also means………….. An get yer diaries out for some minor adjustments … is that you ready?

Well it means that the Drop In for October 5th is cancelled, and the one scheduled for Wednesday 9th November is also cancelled. So there will be no drop ins on 5/10 and also 9/11.

These Drop Ins will now be held in conjunction with our Monday meetings on Monday 31st October and Monday 28th November as usual in the Chaplaincy Centre 2 – 4.

Hope that all makes sense to you all, so if you have nae been to a Monday meeting before, come along and show your support, it’ll be great to see you, an you can even get yer heed massaged into the bargain.

CHANGE OF CONTENT OF MEETING

Unfortunately due to circumstances out with our control the quiz is to be rescheduled for the November meeting, and Jill Anderson our Parky Nurse Specialist will be giving a talk on the drug treatment of Parkinson’s (still to be confirmed at time of going to print), at oor October meeting.
