CALLING ALL PEEBLES PARKY'S
Over the past year we have had a few requests to help our
Parky’s in Peebles get together because they couldn't make the
journey to the BGH.
Well with the help of Gina Allen, and a guy called Jimmy we
explored the nooks and crannies oa Peebles and we now have a
venue for you. We have booked the community centre,
Walkershaugh, doon the road next to the post office.
We have just booked a
date for the first meeting. So we are holding the first sort oa
get together, it is a meeting in the loosest form of the word.
It is more like a time
to meet fellow Parky’s in your toon over a cuppa tea/coffee.
The first meeting will be on Thursday 28th November from 10 till
12 in the lounge at the community centre, look forward to seeing
you there.

Welcome everybody to Novembers' Newsletter, and what an action
packed one we have for you this month, so there is no space for
idle chit chat or funny stories on the first page, but I do want
to thank everyone who turned up for last month’s meeting
especially as it had been changed from Monday, and so many new
faces too. I just hope
we did nae scare you off and you come back and join us again.
This month's meeting
will be back to the last Monday of the Month which will be on
Monday 28th October 2-4 at the Chaplaincy Centre at the BGH.

At last month's meeting we held a quiz; in a closely fought
competition we are pleased to announce that the winners of the
plate were Bob Quillietti from Gordon and Alan Robertson from
Kelsay!! The real
Parky’s Brain oa the Borders Plate, which disappeared in
mysterious circumstances, 2 years ago, is still missing. If you
have any knowledge of the trophies whereabouts you can call
crime stoppers anonymously on 0867 3334448.
EYEMOUTH EXERCISE
Details of Eyemouth event finalised I can exclusively tell you
oor new and exclusive Parky’s exercise class in conjunction with
David Dempster from Eyemouth pool. This event is open to
everyone as long as you are living with Parky’s in the Scottish

The first exercise class will be on Thursday 7th November, we
will be in the pool from 12 to 12.45. Then once we're changed

You may or may not have heard we have a new doc in the Borders
specializing in Parkinson’s, he joins us
from Fife going by the name of Dr. Connor, he has sent us a
wee hello to help introduce himself to the group
Gary Hattie kindly offered me the opportunity to introduce myself to
the Scottish Borders Branch. I joined Dr David Simpson in the
Neurology Department at Borders General Hospital in July. I am
delighted to be living and working in the Borders and to support the
Parkinson’s Disease service together with Jill Anderson and Dr
Andrew McLaren. Although I have been involved with managing
Parkinson’s Disease for several years, this is the first time I have
had the opportunity co-lead a Parkinson’s Disease clinic with a
Parkinson’s Disease Nurse Specialist. Parkinson’s Disease is best
managed by a multidisciplinary team and I am looking forward to
working in our combined clinic. I have already met several people
living with Parkinson’s Disease in the Borders and look forward to
meeting others that previously attended Dr Simpson’s clinic in due
course.

If you remember
in last month's Newsletter we told you we would update you on this
year's putting competition in North Berwick. In a closely fought
competition we had a winner with a record breaking 58 strokes!! The
winner of the Trophy was Charles Hamilton from Lilliesleaf. Our
congratulations go to Charles and we hope he will be back next year
to try and retain the trophy. A feat that has never been done
before, mind you it is the first year of the competition. Our
commiserations have to go to Jim Drover who claimed he scored 58
also, but a sudden gust of wind blew his score card out of his hands
only to be picked up by a rare breed of gull known as a snowgull who
then flew out to the Bass Rock!!! This, due to
freaky weather conditions was covered in SNOW!!? Therefore explained
the appearance of this rare bird. So Jim what can we say except
better luck next year.
