Well those April showers are mair than drip drop drippin’ here
in Selkirk!!!! Raining Cats an Dugs mair like!!! But you gotta
laff. So what’s been gaun oan in the Borders this month I hear
you ask?
It’s been a very busy month here in the Parky world!! We had oor
Quiz fur the ‘Parky Brain oa the Borders Trophy'.
World Records were broken, Guinness have been
informed!!! We had brand new winners for the trophy and also we
had oor first perfect score in 14 years!! Details are in
Newsletter.
We had over 30 folk at this month’s meeting, just under 20 at
Peebles, and just under a dozen in Hawick!! The Eyemooth
exercise class had an increase in numbers, an so had the Yer as
young as ye feel gig in Gala! So we are reaching more an more
folk in the Borders, which is brill! It’s not brill that all
these folk have Parky its brill that they ken we are here as a
group for support, and they arenae alone but……………………………….
|
’Sometimes
even though it’s great to have terrific numbers attending, we
need to remind oorsels’ that it isnae always aboot quantity,
it’s quality! I have been to groups before where 2 folk have
turned up, even though it was 3 people in attendance, their
lives benefited a great deal from just chatting to someone else,
and realising they werenae alone wi Parky either, they now had 1
or 2 folk they could contact an chat to fur support!’
Hey that could be Gary’s thought fur the day!!
Aye that wull be right!!!
Anyway it’s just something that’s worth remembering, so it’s
over to you please read on an hae a guid month.

Tony and Gary were invited to Niki’s bar in Galashiels last month to receive a cheque from Niki for the group funds. We have been very fortunate to have had Niki’s support for a number of years. Fortunately we are not the only group to benefit from all the hard work, Niki and her helpers do for local causes. They also donated £300 to MacMillan nurses, £300 to Marie Curie, £1000 to Diabetes UK!! Well done to all concerned and thank you!! |

Well after a long absence the ‘Parky Brain Oa The Borders Trophy’
returned to the chaplaincy our thanks to police eccosse for the safe
return of oor priceless artefact. The local crime prevention officer
gasped with disbelief as to our security measures or more, the lack
of them!!! Due to his visit our security measures have been revised.
The winning team were escorted home by Securicor, clutching the
trophy with pride the winning team consisted John and Margaret
Shiel, Selkirk and also Brian Stanage from Innerleithen. They also
became the first team to get a faultless 31 oota 30.
Fantastic!!
The Guinness Book Oa Records have been emailed about this miraculous
achievement! Jim Drovers appeal to have an independent adjudicator
look at the answer sheets has been denied by the committee and the
result stands!! Below are the wining team with the coveted trophy.
