Hi there everyone, whit aboot this weather!!! El scorchio, well
it is in Selkirk anyway. Well we have had a crackin’ summer this
year and long may summer stay!! Hope you have had a guid one as
they say. So it is business as usual, last week saw the first
gathering oa the ‘Youngasyefeel’ Gang in H2O in Galashiels, and
the rest oa the meetings get back together again this month,
it’s always good to see everyone again an catch up.
During the last coupla months the group has been to a sunny
North Berwick, aye a’ did say Sunny!!! We have also recently
just had a very successful information day in Galashiels
organised by Len Ironside from Parkinson’s Scotland. Oh aye an
the Peebles ‘Cuppa na a Chat’ crew met up in the new
Wetherspoons in Peebles on a fine summers evening……………………. fine
if ye like water that is, as I think it was the only days rain
we’ve had in months (ok I’m exaggerating slightly) but it was
rather wet! But it would take mair than a bit oa rain to dampen
the spirits oa those having some grub!!

What a braw sunny day it was for the coach load oa punters who
took up oor offer oa a day at the seaside. The annual putting
competition was held in ideal conditions this year, resulting in
a very tight contest, unfortunately we cannae tell you the
result as we are still trying to count up how many strokes Jim
Drover had taken!!
Watch this space as they say (och ah’ve lost count again!). It’s
safe to say everyone had a guid day.
If you have any suggestions for a local destination for oor
summer 2015 outing please let touch wi’ Gary or wan oa the
committee ken.
DONATIONS
Over the summer the group has received a number of donations.
Details and thank yooz will be in the October newsletter.
APOLOGIES
The Bogie Close Stompers an SCOCHA events have been put on hold

We’re the Parkinson’s support and research charity. Help us find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s. |

The Chaplaincy meetings resume again this month, pop along furra
coffee or a tea if you prefer and have a bikky an a chat. If you
have never been before, you will be made more than welcome by
everyone there so why not pop along. Gary has received the menu for
the Christmas Meal an will have that with him (if he remembers that
is).
A few months ago we had a Thai Chi demonstration, which we think was
well received. We are discussing the option of organising a regular
class in the area and are wondering if there would be many people
willing to attend classes. If you would be interested in the group
holding a regular Thai Chi class could you pass your name onto Jill
Anderson.

This year’s information day organised by Len Ironside from
Parkinson’s Scotland, was held in the Kingsknowe Hotel Galashiels,
on Wednesday 3rd September. Around 50 people attended on
a day which contained a number of speakers, Tanith Muller gave a
very informative chat on PUK Campaigns and Policies in Scotland.
There was a talk from Dr Neil Archibald, (an Irish Geordie!)On
research projects being done and why…………… Dr Myles Connor Consultant
Neurologist spoke about what is happening in the Scottish Borders
for PEOPLE LIVING WITH PARKINSONS. A presentation informing everyone
of the support network available at moment and plans for the future.
The group would like to thank all the speakers who gave up their
time to attend this event.
