STOMPERS GIVE US ANOTHER NIGHT TO REMEMBER

Just under 40 folk sat down to fish and chips in the Buccleuch Arms in St. Boswells, This culinary delight was followed by entertainment from Selkirk Skiffle Band ‘Bogie Close Stompers’. This is the third time the Stompers have given up their time an performed for group. They were as entertaining as always and had us all singing from start to finish. At the end of the evening Gary presented the Stompers wi a certificate for being the only BAND to have the bottle to give a group of Parky’s tambourines and maracas to play with!

                THANK GUYS, FURRA CRACKIN’ NIGHT!!

SOUPS, MAIN DISHES, PUDINGS, HAME BAKING,

Parky Masterchef plea

The cuppa ana chat group in Peebles need your help, as they are trying to raise funds for the group by putting together a recipe book which will contain recipes from folk in the area. Co & co are looking for your favourite recipe, if they are easy to make and Parkinson’s’ friendly all the better. If can help out with their plea, please send them to Gary and he will forward them on to Co an co in Peebles. If you have access to email that would be the preferred method as it will make it is easier to work with, garyhattie@btinternet.com but if not jot it doon on a bit oa paper and send recipe to Gary Hattie, 4 Scott Crescent Selkirk TD7 4EQ.

Co and the group in Peebles are hoping for a good response, unfortunately sending your recipe in will not guarantee entry to the book, but if you can help the Peebles group out with their fund raising venture please send them in.

They look forward to hearing from you!

PARKY BRAIN OA THE BORDERS

FALKIRK HERE WE COME

We’re the Parkinson’s support and research charity. Help us find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.

Last month the group were presented with the new trophy for oor Branch Quiz from member Gordon Melrose oa Innerleithen. Gordon sounds very confident of winning the cup as he said when interviewed, ‘A cup will look much better oan ma mantelpiece than the other trophy’s!!’ Me thinks he’s reading encyclopaedias by the dozen! Seriously though many thanks to Gordon for the cup he presented the Group with. Gordon is pictured presenting the new quiz trophy to Committee member Jim Drover…… someone in attendance was heard to say…….

That’s the only time ye’ll see Jimmy Drover holding that!!”

Jim receives cup from Gordon

We do however need your help; the other quiz trophies were called ‘Parky Brain oa the Borders Trophy.’ We need a name for the new cup, can you think of a name? If your answer is yes send your idea of a name to Gary in the usual way……

Gary awaits your ideas

The weather was kind to us for the bus trip to the Kelpies in Falkirk. As it only rained when we were on the bus. The day organised by friend oa the group an bus driver extraordinaire Gordon Smith and his lovely wife Linda from Jedburgh.

All who went thought it was a terrific day an were still talking about it 2 weeks later.

Gordon and Linda had fund-raised to organise this trip for our group an the MS Society group in the Borders. They also arranged Sunday Lunch in the MacDonald Inchyra Hotel just outside Falkirk. An a yummy lunch it was too. Gordon even managed to take us to New Brockville home of Falkirk F.C.!!

Gordon and Linda came along to the Stompers night where Tony presented Linda with a bunch oa floo-erz and Gary presented Gordon with a certificate in appreciation of all his work in providing us wi’ a day to remember.
