Can I firstly send ma humblest apologies fur the lateness oa
this newsletter. A’ cannae pin point one reason why it’s late
other than well it is Gary after all, an as you know efficiency
isnae ma middle name!! I think that explains everything.
Well as we come to the end of awareness week, I think this year
has been the most media coverage the charity has had since the
group started some 16 years ago. Locally we had a double page
feature in the Peeblesshire News and also a double page feature
in the Borders Telegraph. There was a phone in on Radio
Scotland, BBC News ran a feature, there was a feature on the
‘Wan show,’ Borders TV News ran a story about the Cumbria Branch
launching a new information video. All in all a fantastic
awareness week, and the icing on the cake was, that we had a
sale oa hame baking at the BGH on Monday and Tuesday raising
just under £400! Aye four hunner poond!!
Thanks to everyone who helped out an contributed to it, be it
hame knitted jam or cakes thank you!! I can confirm the rumours
that a certain Selkirk lass going by the name oa Margaret Shiell
that’s S-H-I-E-L-L, I think that’s how sell it, Ha-Ha sell it
get it! Oh a crack masel up at times!! Anyway yes rumours that
Margaret was burning the midnight oil Monday night, frantically
baking mair cakes fur Tuesday, after just aboot being selt oot
on Monday are correct, if ah hadda hat on Margaret I’d take it
off to you, many thanks. Jennifer was also there with products
knitted an sewn by Walkerburn Craft Group. SERIOUSLY, A BIG
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HELPED MAKE THE SALE THE SUCCESS IT WAS!!!
Anyway am rabbiting on, that’s the kettle boiled ……please enjoy
your April Newsletter which you might get in May!!

That is a play on words from the song ‘New York New York, so guid
they.
Traffic cops in a lay by on the A72 last Thursday were seen to be
scratching their heed in puzzlement as the saw this greyish Peugeot
speeding past them not once, not twice, not even thrice but try four
times!! Is this guy oan drugs or whit they asked themsels!! Well ah
wiz but no the ones they were thinkin of!!
Let me explain, after the last Peebles meeting a few were having a
blether outside the community centre and cheering Betty Warner as
she sped up the rather steep brae in her mobility scooter heading
hame!! As Betty disappeared over the horizon we all headed oor
separate ways Gary following the legendary Jim Dee as his hoose was
the destination furra coffee. On arrival at Jims hoose kettle
boiled, Gary went to get milk from his car, and suddenly thought
where’s ma diary? Could it be found? Nup! Jim ah’ll have tae gaun
back tae Peebles ah’ve left ma diary there!! Ok it was a bit mair
like ‘awe S&$% Jim ah’ve
left ma F@&£$% diary at
B&$£% Peebles!!’
So they both jumped into the Hattmobile an sped back to Peebles, the
car got faster as Gary remembered oh ma note book wi all ma
scribbles is there too, then they broke a ton an the polis lost
sight of the hattmobile when it dawned on Gary that the group cheque
book wis there too!!
On arrival at the Community Centre Gary parked roon the corner and
when he a Jim walked round corner they saw on top of the wheely bins
outside the community centre a cardboard box (yes Co that cardboard
box!) with Gary’s contents in it which he remembered putting down
there when they were cheering Betty up the brae!! Thank god fur
that! Vee relieved they both went round the corner an got in the
car, it wis then Gary then realised he had left the keys in the car
an the engine running!!! Aye
F?&%£ Parky’s got a lot tae answer fur.
On the journey hame Jim was heard tae mutter,
