GLESGA DIALECT

CRACKS ME UP

Oan a recent jaunt tae that place known as weedgie land, a wis staunin’ in the queue at yon place that serves stuff furra quid! Then a hear ‘yer next big man.’ so there a goes o’er tae this laddies till. While am stainun there wi ma engine tickin o’er, sure ye ken whit a mean, aye, shakin slightly.  The wee man serving me left me speechless when he pipes up

Wi a big smile oan his face he says,’whits up big man! You bustin’!’

Am still laffin EVEN NOW.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Gordon Allen from Galashiels has offered tae take on the treasurer’s roll for the Branch. Thank You, Thank You and Thank You Gordon. No more will Gary get the phone call saying we sent you a cheque an it hasnae been cashed! No more will Gary get the call saying oor invoice hasnae been paid! No more will Gary go on a Parky trip an we all hear him cry those immortal words, ‘Oops ah’ve forgot the cheque book!!’

So on behalf of everyone involved with the Branch, ‘THANK YOU VERY MUCH GORDON!

ABILITY BORDERS EVENT ‘EYEMOUTH’

We’re the Parkinson’s support and research charity. Help us find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.

Can we just say a big thank you to everyone attending oor AGM at the January BGH meeting, it was very much appreciated, it is so encouraging to see the support we have fur the group. Also thanks to everyone who participated in Lizzy’s research into dance and movement. As soon as she finishes her project she says she will let us know what she has done; so watch this space.

This month’s meeting, we will be getting a chat from Helen Byers who took on the role oa ‘Parkinson’s Local Adviser South Lanarkshire and Borders area due to Steve Richardson moving on to pastures new for the charity.

This meeting will be held at the chaplaincy centre in the BGH, on Monday 29th February from 2 – 4. As always everyone is welcome, an teas an coffees an bikkies will be served as well.

What mair oa a reason do you need to come along to the meeting, we look forward to meeting you there that’s Monday 29th Feb 2-4!!!

HADDINGTON BRANCH

As a group we were going to attend one of the meetings of the Haddington branch and catch up with oor neighbours, if you are interested give Gary yer name next time you see him. More details to follow.

At our meeting last November, we were joined by Corrina Beighton from ability borders. Well she has asked if we can tell you about an event she is holding in Eyemouth on Tuesday 23rd February 10 – 12 in the community centre hall 1. This will give you the chance to meet people from other support organisations or groups in the borders area, tea an coffee will be available. Interested? Gie Corrina a call on 0300 999 2273, everyone is welcome.

YOUNG AS YE FEEL GANG

I can now inform you of the new permanent venue fur young as ye feel Parky’s. We now meet on a monthly basis on the 2nd Tuesday of the month in Buddies High Street Galashiels, (almost across from spoons). Parking available in Iceland and job centre car park, from 6.30 – 8, everyone welcome

This venue might be in doubt as were informed, much tae oor disappointment, at oor February meet we were informed that every Tuesday night they will be running a pole dancing exercise class!! We thought we’d gie it them a chance an sat an watched the exercise class, although it was a wee bit distracting all the fellas attending agreed to put up with it furra few months an see how it goes!!  What wi that at oor Gala meet an belly dancing at wur Peebles meeting, the future for this Parky group in the Borders is looking good!!
